In 1954, Melvin Weinberg opened the doors of Mel's Furniture Factory Direct Bedding, still serving you at 508 Atlantic Boulevard. Initially calling his store Mel's Sales and Factory Bedding, Mel was passionate about the community and supported many worthwhile endeavors to benefit it.
Because of Mel's unwavering commitment, in 2010 the council of the city of Atlantic City adopted an ordinance to adopt an additional name, Melvin Weinberg Way, for the block surrounding Mel's Furniture Factory Direct Bedding. In addition, the mayor of the city proclaimed October 7, 2010 "Melvin Weinberg Day" in honor of his numerous contributions throughout the years.
Since Mel’s untimely passing in 1980, his sons Phillip and Ron have followed in his footsteps. Stop in today and you'll likely find them, Mel's surviving wife Zelda, and his grandchildren.
